Course Information

The Applied GCSE is a newly developed course currently being delivered to all Year 9 students and combines the work studied in Music, Drama and Dance. The course is mainly practical but there is a coursework element. Workbooks and templates have been provided, in school, to support you and some information has been provided here if you wish to work at home to improve your grades.

Assessment Grid

In class you will be encouraged to keep a record of the grades you receive for each project. The assessment grids we will use can be downloaded for your reference.

Lesson Diary Blank Templates

In this course you need to show that you understand what you are learning and show how you are trying to improve your skills. In lessons we will complete a set of questions (roughly every 2 lessons) which will be written rather like a diary. The templates are provided here for students who would like to do extra work at home to improve their grades. These templates can be downloaded, filled in and handed in to the subject teacher. There is also a useful guide to download that explains how to write the diary.

Final Project Evaluation

At the end of each project you need to sum up what you have learnt and how you are developing your skills. This template and set of questions will help you do this effectively. We will also complete final evaluations as part of the class work.

Information Sheets

At some point during the year you will be given 3 separate homeworks and asked to research a practitioner in Music, Drama and Dance. The following information sheet will guide you with this work.

Writing about Performances

Download this useful template to help you write about performances you see. You should aim to write about three performances throughout the year. Some will be covered in class but you will improve your grades if you write independantly about performances you see yourself.
