Instrument Labelling Policy
Background
Because of the high number of instruments used by pupils and the similiarity in their appearance, it is essential that all instruments brought into the school by students are appropriately and accurately labelled. Recently there have been a number of occasions in which students have taken home the wrong instrument unintentionally causing distress and worry to another student. As with all property it is essential to ensure that instruments are labelled in order to help prevent this occuring, or to assist with the prompt return of instruments.
Our general advice and policy on this is :
  • Label all instrument cases with a)Name, b)Address, c)Year of Study, and d)School Name. If you wish to add phone numbers this is advisable
  • Ensure you have insurance - neither the school nor the county council are able to insure, or accept responsibility for loss or replacement of musical instruments.
Bringing your instrument to school constitutes an acceptance of this policy and is a confirmation that the instrument is insured. If your instrument is not labelled please be aware that it is extremely difficult to track if it goes missing, and the school is limited in the help it can offer.
