Select one of your tapes and cd's at random. Choose a track and listen to a minute of the music. Try to describe the elements in the music - rhythm, melody etc. Remember to keep repeating the music. |
Listen to a wide range of music - do not forget about the music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic period etc. It is often hard to decide on the period in history the music comes from. |

Be aware of the range of questions on the exam paper:
- multiple choice (never leave these questions blank!)
- Short answers / phrases (be brief but clear)
- Following a musical score (you will need to know basic music theory for this question)
- Writing paragraphs on music (refer to line numbers if it's a song, describe what you hear and comment on melody, rhythm, tempo etc, write in bullet points and not full sentences)
